Best Dressed star at the CFDA Awards?
And The CFDA Award Goes To.....?
I'm back everyone! I've been super busy with school exams, finals, you know all the end of the school year stuff. But enough about me, lets think about all the nominees for this year's CFDA Awards! Tonight at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, fashion's most talented faces will be awarded with the mega prestige CFDA Award. Alexander Wang, fashion's ultra cool and gunge young designer, has the most nominations along with Mr. Marc Jacobs, who will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and (personally) my favorite designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. From T.V stars, to now nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen could take home the award due to their amazing work they're doing for their brand The Row. All of the nominnes work hard and deserve an award, but I want to see what everyone is going to wear! I guess we will find out tonight!
Paris Fashion Week- Best Collections
Supermodels in a Winter Forest at Chanel
It's fair to say that the Chanel show is the most anticipated during Paris Fashion Week. Every collection, every fashion show, Karl Lagerfeld manages to get an idea, and run with it! This time, his childhood, growing up during the winter in Northern Europe, inspired Lagerfeld to create a set that reminded him of the dark, cold forest enviroment he lived in for seven months. As I expected, Lagerfeld's muse, Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen opened the show in an all black cropped jacket, layered over a suit coat and black pants. The fall 2011 collection featured lots of black and gray outfits, like a cropped tweed jacket or buttoned up capes with hints of red or light green, wrinkled, ashy like jeans, and many flare pants were displayed. The idea that a woman can look grunge and a bit boyish, but still feminine translated in the collection. After all, like Lagerfeld said, "the world is a dark place".
Sex, Handcuffs, and Fetish at Louis Vuitton
A French woman always looks elegant and sophisticated. At the Louis Vuitton show, Marc Jacobs not only made his new collection upscale and luxurious, but he added a very obvious sex appeal to his 67 piece collection. Models came out from an elevator wearing fitted pencil skirts, sheer tops, thigh high pantyhose stockings, military like corseted coats, sheep fur military hats, and many colors including black, red, navy blue, and white. Accesories included the classic LV tote, patent leather clutches, and some models like Natasha Poly, were handcuffed with LV gold handcuffs. Jacobs always has many surprises during his fashion shows. But the biggest surprise was all the supermodels like Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell, Carolyn Murphy, and Stella Tennant that Jacobs asked to walk the show. Speaking of supermodels, the one and only Kate Moss closed the show with a cigarette in her hand, puffing away. Moss truly embodies that rock and roll, sex, drugs, and sexiness lifestyle that Jacobs wanted everyone to get across.

Python, Fur, and Innocent Girls at Prada
Miuccia Prada seems to always set trends during her fashion shows, and this time was no exception. There was a sixties vibe to the clothes, but completely feminine and wearable. "I'm curious about women", Prada told Style.com. Her curiosity seems to excite all her customers. Lots of buttoned up the side dresses with wide belts at the hips, colors like blacks, reds, and creams were displayed, fur, amazing mermaid like sequin organza skirts and jackets, and with every outfit, models wore a pair of python boots that looked like high socks inside the heels. The collection felt very easy to wear, relaxed, innocent glamour. The idea of a modern sixties young girl was really what the Prada show wanted us to take in.

The 1970's takes over at Gucci
Celebrating it's 90th anniversary, creative director Frida Giannini keeps making the house of Gucci more exciting, more sexy, and truly what women want. Top model Natasha Poly opened the show wearing a teal and velvelt jacket with knee high boots and a very mafia like looking hat. Giannini has reinvented the 70's once again. Colored furs, from purples, blues, and classic blacks. Tons of python jackets, boots, and bags, with long, flowy dresses and scarves wrapped around the neck. It reminded me of Anjelica Huston back in the day, hanging out at Studio 54. But it also gave me feeling of a modern mafia wife. Very mysterious but glamorous at the same time. Keep up the good work Frida!
2011 Academy Awards- Best & Worst Dressed
The award show that we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! The 83rd Annual Academy Awards is the mountain top where all the actors want to be. Actors, directors, costume designers, you name it, the best of the best. Before the awards however, comes the red carpet! What someone wears to the Oscars can make a designers career, get someone more noticed, and can place you in the best or worst dressed list. So, who made me smile because of how gorgeous they looked, and who made me gasp because of their outfit choice? Well, read below and find out!
Immediately when I laid my eyes on Halle Berry, I knew she had to be on my best dressed list! On recent award shows, Berry has not really impressed me so much with her dresses, but this comeback was a wow. Her nude, crystal, silk tulle gown by Marchesa was beautiful and looked excellent with her skin tone. I love it when actresses take a risk on the red carpet, but manage to pull it off. For example, Cate Blanchett's lavender chiffon Givenchy Haute Couture gown. I adored the beading and the construction of the dress. Wonderful actress Hilary Swank was ultra confident walking around in her gray crystal and feathered, stapless Gucci dress. I just loved the movement of the feathers and how perfectly it fit her. Finally, the older she gets, the hotter she gets too. Sandra Bullock shined in her bright red Vera Wang number, showing some cleavage! Too bad it's not Jesse James' anymore.
Tonight's host, Anne Hathaway, arrived with legendary designer Valentino Garavani on the red carpet, which was great, but her dress, oh my god horrible! The color did look okay, but the dress itself was like a trash bag painted red and flowers added to the back. Come on Hathaway, you can do so much better! Another Hollywood actress I was disapointed to see was Black Swan star Mila Kunis. I know Kunis can pull off something sexy and dramatic, but not this time. Her lavender, low cut, lace Elie Saab dress looked like rags ripped, and it was a bit too tight on her bust. What is going on lately with Nicole Kidman and her outfit choices! That terrible embroidered, white Dior gown was just horrendous from head to toe. Plus the red shoes, tragic! Last but not least, Helena Bonham Carter, as we all know, belongs in this category. I cant even begin describing what she wore. See you next year!
London Fashion Week-
Snowflakes and Terrific Outerwear at
Burberry Prorsum, the show to see during London Fashion Week, featured another superb collection thanks to the creative mind of Christopher Bailey. The current face of the brand, model Jourdan Dunn, opened (and closed) the show wearing a pumpkin orange buttoned up coat, which set the tone of the collection. This time, instead of making his girls edgy, and a bit rock and roll like last season, Bailey went another direction for fall 2011. Lots of military pea coats, skinny, wide leg trousers, black platform wedges, fur, plaid, and these adorable black and white mink hats were shown on the runway. But lets not forget the front row guests like actress Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, model Lily Donaldson, and socialite Alexa Chung were just a few fans suppoting the brand. At the end of the show, a well staged snow storm surprised everyone! Burberry keeps increasing its sales, succeeding in business, and I think I know why!

New York Fashion Week- Best Collections
Polka Dots Galore at Marc Jacobs
When you think about Fashion Week in New York, it's impossible to not think about the Marc Jacobs show. It's almost like thinking of Paris without thinking of Chanel. I was waiting patiently for the most anticipated show in New York to start live stream on my computer screen. For fall 2011, most designers are showing alot of blacks, reds, and somber palettes. But Jacobs' use of the funky, polka dottted print and terrific textures spiced up his mostly black, white, navy, burgundy, and dark green fall collection. There were tons of high waisted skirts, long sleeved, crisp white button up shirts layered underneath wool sweaters and military like jackets. "I wanted something strict and severe," Jacobs told Style.com. The whole idea of having a dress code, buttoned up, but still looking cool, sexy, and feminine is the perfect way to describe Jacobs' latest creations.
Native American Blankets inspires Proenza Schouler
From Santa Fe, all the way to Wyomnig, the road trip that the Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez took, inspired their fall 2011 collection. "The idea of a blanket really kind of took us into a lot of different directions" McCollough told Style.com. You can definitely see a bit of a western, cowboy vibe in the clothes without being too literal. Front row fans like Chloe Sevigny, Liv Tyler, socialite Jen Brill, photographer Terry Richardson, and the most important fashion editors and buyers were there to witness the design duo's new collection. Leather t-shirts, amazing folded and tucked digital print dresses, strappy fringed heels, and beautiful velvet dresses sums up the 34 piece runway show. Every show, every collection, Jack and Lazaro manage to take an idea or inspiration, and translated in their own way, which is cool, edgy, wearable, sexy, but never too literal!

2011 Grammy's- Best & Worst Dressed !!!
Lady Gaga arrived inside an egg like coffin, Katy Perry wore angel wings with her Armani dress, and Justin Beiber's new movie "Never Say Never" has already made $26 million this weekend. Music stars sure know how to make a stament. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards gathered some of today's hottest singers to perform, present an award, and to walk the red carpet of course! While some performes excelled with what they were wearing, many went a little to the crazy side and made a statement (not in a good way).
I am thrilled to see singer and Oscar winning actress Jennifer Hudson look so healthy and comfortable in her own skin! Losing weight is painfully difficult, and Hudson just recently told Oprah that her total weight loss is 80 pounds! Speaking of a wow factor, Hudson looked super sexy wearing a blue, corset like Versace dress. Her jewelry, that amazing straight hair, and those black Louboutins were perfect! Country superstar Jewel, looked elegant and fresh in her Pamela Roland light yellow strapless one shoulder dress. To think that Selena Gomez is only 18 years old, and looking this great, that's terrific! Her very fitted and low cut J Mendel champaign colored dress was outstanding. A non musician, but is always in front of the camera, Kim Kardashian looked extra sexy with that gold Kaufman Franco high slit dress.
Let me begin by talking about someone who I call the black "Lady Gaga", Nicki Minaj. What in the world was she thinking! Reallly? A Leopard Givenchy outfit from head to toe, oh and then to top it all off that crazy bleached blond hair sticking all the way up, why? I have one thing to tell Miss Minaj, Lady Gaga is already doing what you are trying. Anways, American Idol winner Jordan Sparks looked horrible as well. Zang Toi's red and pink short but long dress made Sparks look like a Valentines day box that you wrap for your love one. Miley Cyrus is going the wrong path, and this time with her dress choice. Her Roberto Cavalli black, Zebra like long dress just looked trashy and not chic! Now, I highly adore what Rihanna usually wears, but not this time. She was naked under that fur Jean Paul Gaultier disaster gown. One more award show to go, the Oscars!

2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Best/Worst Dressed
Movies and television is what makes us all happy after a long day at work, when you're bored at home, or after school. But award shows are even better! You get to see your best actors dressed impecable in a tux or a beautiful gown. The 17th annual Screen Actors Guild awards celebrated the best in movies and T.V shows. But before the awards comes the red carpet. Lots of red, hot pink, and sexy dresses were worn by your favorite hollywood actresses. Let me break down the best and worst of the evening.
Black Swan superstar and soon to be a mom, Natalie Portman looked way better than that Viktor and Rolf pink drapped dress she wore to the Golden Globes. This time, she went ultra elegant, wearing an all white, strapless Azzaro dress. The best part was that she was showing the baby bump! Portman's co-star Mila Kunis looked edgy, sexy, and comfortable in that belted, red Alexander McQueen dress. Goodbye Jackie Burkhart, hello Mila Kunis! New girl on the scene Hailee Steinfeld, from True Grit, looked absolutely fresh, young, age appropriate, and stood out in Prada's spring 2011 black, orange, and hot pink stripped long dress. To finish off the best dressed list, The Fighter's Amy Adams rocked an all white, fitted Herve Leroux halter dress. Fantastic, even down to the sleek ponytail!
<span style="color: #ffff00;">
Modern Family's Julie Bowen is funny on the show, but her outfit was funny too. That black Catherine Malandrino jumpsuit looked so Studio 54, disco dancer, and trashy to say the least. Typically on the worst dressed list, Glee's Jane Lynch looked horrible in Ali Rahimi's 80's like prom dress. Sadly, it made Lynch look bigger that she really is. Someone who we haven't seen in a while, just recently in Black Swan, Winona Ryder's dress looked like a layered white cake! It was too much, so big, and i was shocked when I found out that it was Alberta Ferreti. Last but not least, Mad Man hottie January Jones usually looks sexy and great on the red carpet, but not this time. She was dressed in the dark in that black and gold Carolina Herrera dress. It also aged her so much! Better luck next time ladies!
